The Rooms

The lodge has two studios and a suite, each named after a visiting native bird, Korimako (Bellbird), Kotare (Kingfisher) and Kahu (Australasian Harrier Hawk). All rooms have a north facing deck with stunning estuary and garden outlook.

Our bedrooms are intimately sized, with a sitting space and ensuite bathroom. All rooms feature walls lined with wool insulation and luggage storage. Bathrooms feature high pressure showers, heated towel rails, mirror demisters, hairdryer and luxury toiletries.

Kahu Studio

The Kahu or Australasian Harrier Hawk, is a protected native bird. You will regularly see Kahu gliding over the retreat hunting their prey around the pastured hills and soaring high on the thermals.
The Kahu room is an end corner room of the west wing, facing north and west with wrap around windows and French doors opening onto a deck with stunning views over the inlet. It features a queen bed, tea and coffee making facilities, and ensuite with shower, vanity and toilet. Please note that you can’t cook in the studio.

Kotare Studio

The Kotare or Kingfisher is a smaller bird with a strong beak and possesses brilliant greenish blue colouring. A protected native bird, you will see the Kotare perching on driftwood and feeding on small crabs.

The Kotare room is adjacent to the Kahu room in the west wing with French doors opening onto the deck offering sweeping views over the inlet. It features a queen bed, tea and coffee making facilities and ensuite with shower, vanity and toilet. Please note that you can’t cook in the studio. The laundry is situated between the Kahu and Kotare Studios.
